Binary to English: Translate Binary to Text Online

in "Encoding"

Converting binary to English text is a two-step process. First you need to convert the binary byte to decimal.

Then by using the ASCII chart we check the corresponding decimal number and the character or number it represents.

ASCII text encoding uses fixed 1 byte for each character. UTF-8 text encoding uses variable number of bytes for each character.

This requires delimiter between each binary number.

To convert binary ASCII code to text:

  1. Get binary byte.
  2. Convert binary byte to decimal.
  3. Get character of ASCII code from ASCII table.
  4. Continue with next byte.

Example

Convert “01100001 01110100 01110100 01100001 01100011 01101011 00100000 01100001 01110100 00100000 01101110 01101111 01101111 01101110” binary ASCII code to text or English.

Solution:

Use ASCII table to get character from ASCII code.

011000012 = 2^6 + 2^5 + 2^0 = 97 => “a”

011101002 = 2^6 + 2^5 +2^4 + 2^2 = 116 =”t”

The above translator converts binary numbers into English text. To do this it first breaks the binary string up into 8-bit chunks and converts these chunks to decimal numbers.

It then uses the ASCII standard to convert these numbers (0-127 since we use 8 bits, max) into equivalent ASCII character.
